Description
New physics changes and balancing by VAC 2023 (v1.2)

Engine: Porsche 935 F6 2992 cc engine with twin-turbo good for 641 hp at 8000 RPM, mated to a Porsche 920 type 4-speed transmission. Tuned for better lower end torque and better fuel economy, with less boost and improved aero.

The Porsche CK5 02 by Kremer is a second custom-built Group C prototype based on the Porsche 936, which was used as a temporarily replacement until the 956 was to become available for customers in 1983.

The chassis CK5 01 was struck by failures at Le Mans and other races but did quite well in the DRM series. It was sold in 1983 to Porsche privateer Richard Cleare Racing. The engine was increased to 3.0L as well as received some aero bodywork and other improvements. This would make the CK5 02. It would continue to be raced after 1983 as well, in 1984 and 1985 with a mix of DNFs and respectable top 10 results. It developed a 650 hp at 7800 RPM on maximum 1.6 bar boost setting.

Kremer created the CK5 01 in 1982 using a 908/936 chassis, a twin-turbo 2.8L six-cylinder engine from a 935 and a 917 transaxle and rear suspension. Kremer Racing set out to campaign in the World Endurance Championship Group C cars. No ground effects on thir cars but a lot of power with speeds at Le Mans topping at about 220 mph. For 1983 Kremer sold their CK5 car to other privateers with an engine increase to 3.0 liters which was easily achieved with this engine type. Kremer emphasized on the fact that the oncoming Group C fuel consumption rules were still easy to conform to through engine displacement changes and playing with different boost levels.

At Le Mans in 1983 it was placed as high as 10th, with a top speed of over 220 mph, before a dropped valve in the 4th hour ended its race. It was driven by Richard Cleare, Tony Dron, and Richard Jones.
