EMKA C83/C84 Powered By: Aston Martin V8 (5340cc) DP1229 tuned By Tickford

The EMKA Aston Martin was a Group C racing car built for EMKA Production's owner Steve O'Rourke by Michael Cane Racing and powered by an Aston Martin V8 engine. The EMKA C83/1 was initially introduced in 1983 and competed in the 1983 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing a respectable 17th overall against a fleet of Porsches.

For the 1984 season, a 15% reduction in fuel allotment was announced. This would have a particularly detrimental effect on the Emka and its thirsty Aston Martin V8. The team was also affected with a lack of sponsors, so opted to sit out the season. The regulations were reverted the following year, and the Emka was back. A new car was constructed at Michael Cane Racing, using some components of the 1983 machine. Now known as the 84C/1, it boasted revised rear suspension and re-designed bodywork, which no longer used ground-effect aerodynamics.

The car was modified for 1985 and raced at the 1985 24 Hours of Le Mans and finished in 11th place after briefly leading the race in the opening hours.
The EMKA Aston Martin failed to finish any of the other races it appeared at in 1985, and Steve O'Rourke of EMKA Racing decided to take a break from international motorsport.
