The 1905 Green Dragon III used an 11.1L OHV I4 (cast in pairs) which produced 60hp, through a 4 speed transmission, into an open differential. The suspension is unique, utilizing leafsprings above the chassis both front and rear.
Peerless made four Green Dragons in total, the first two were 45hp and were raced from 1903-1905 and Barney ultimately wrecked one of them. When Peerless got out of racing in 1906, Barney purchased the newest two, a 60hp version, and the more powerful 90hp version. The 60hp version was the one used in the most race events by Barney, and it was the winningest car he ever raced in his career. It was only replaced as his primary car when he purchased a Blitzen Benz from Mercedes in 1911.
