Founded by cyclecar designer Archie Frazer-Nash in 1922, the Frazer Nash company produced a series of unique and iconic pre-war sports cars. Known mainly for their chain-driven transmissions, the "chain gang" Frazer Nash cars were successful as road-going sports cars and in racing. The TT Replica model was based on the cars that contested the 1931 RAC Tourist Trophy Race. Although none of the cars entered that year actually finished the event, the TT Replica fared well in races from its introduction in 1932 until the end of production in 1939. Power was provided by three different engines - a modified 1,500 cc Meadows engine, or a 1500 cc engine produced in-house, designed by Albert Gough, or lastly the 1,660 cc 6-cylinder Blackburne engine, which required a slightly longer wheelbase to fit into the chassis. The example presented here is powered by the Meadows engine, which was fitted with a Gough-designed cylinder head, to produce a peak output of around 62 horsepower.
